Join us in rewriting the future of data storage! &##As a System Chief Technology Officer (CTO) you will be responsible for leading the system-level strategy, development, and integration of Biomemory products, leading the R&D and the deliverables for a successful commercial launch. You will foster innovation and maintain a competitive edge in the DNA data storage industry, including cost-effectiveness. The development of Biomemory’s products will require a tight collaboration and continuous adaptation between the System CTO, Chief Science Officer, the COO, and the VP of Industrialization and Partnerships. As a System CTO, you will lead the system architecture to match the product and market requirements. These biotech components are developed and made ready-for-integration by the CSO and his teams. Own the company's hardware and software architecture and related R&D strategy, as well as the system’s integration and verification. In collaboration with Biomemory’s Executive Staff, help bridge the biotech and IT cultures . System strategy and roadmap (technical, staffing, budget): take ownership of the product execution plan, possibly optimize/develop it, to enable an efficient implementation of the strategy, yielding a timely product launch that aligns with the company’s business goals. The System CTO will deliver quarterly prioritization plans for product development activities, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently and that the most valuable product features are developed first to meet market demands and strategic business objectives. Intellectual Property : establish and oversee a robust IP strategy related to system, hardware, or software innovations . Technical Reputation : actively contribute to the company's technical credibility and visibility by authoring and having your team write and publish white papers, speak at industry conferences, and contribute to peer-reviewed journals. Together with your team, you will contribute to the overall technology, product, and market intelligence of Biomemory, by regularly sharing collected information and knowledge. Team Management : develop and execute a hiring plan of your team that aligns with the company's growth strategy and technical needs. The Systems Team (covering hardware and software) of roughly 13 people reports to the System CTO. VP Industrialisation & Partnerships, Program Manager, COO (Delivery), CSO (Biotech) These fields are encompassing IT and data storage, software and firmware development, electronics and microelectronics, microfluidics, micro-robotics and automation, as well as new materials. ~8-10+ years of experience in system development and integration in a global management role within IT, Computing, Data Storage, large medical electronics equipment, test & measurement equipment, eventually Networking or Telecom systems. ~ You worked for one or more recognized equipment makers or system integrators and have experience with both hardware and software components, ideally in a context using microfluidics (life science, printing, micro-robotics). ~ You led the development of a disruptive hardware and software solution from risk-mitigation feasibility studies to the creation of end-to-end functional prototypes, leading to industrialized products. ~ You showcase strong innovation skills, risk assessment and containment, and problem-solving abilities in uncharted technology territories. ~ You possess a deep understanding of hardware and software development, preferably with knowledge in enterprise data storage, or in a related field. ~ Successfully managed the development life cycle of a first-generation commercial-grade product, from initial concept through market launch, demonstrating effective leadership, project management, and the ability to overcome technical challenges. ~ You demonstrate a strong ability to develop and execute a long-term roadmap , coupled with an understanding of how it translates into successful products. Solid understanding of the business implications of technical decisions and demonstrated ability to align technical strategies and execution plans with business objectives will help you succeed in this role. The position is onsite , based at our office located at 5 Impasse Reille in Paris . The workspace combines modern classic offices with advanced laboratory rooms, designed to foster collaboration between computer scientists and biologists. This setup supports our mission to tackle the challenges of DNA synthesis and writing, encouraging interdisciplinary teamwork and innovation. Toward the end of 2025, our offices will relocate to a new headquarters in the center of Paris, near Sorbonne University. The position is subject to French law on fixed-hour contracts ("forfait heures"), with a 39-hour working week, which offers flexibility and ensures clear expectations regarding time commitments.
