Project Delivery Director


About the Role

Reporting directly to the Construction Director - Europe, the Project Delivery Director is responsible for the cradle to grave delivery of all construction, up-grade and complex life cycle upgrade works at the Global Switch Data Centre campus in accordance with the strategic masterplan to meet growth and revenue targets.


The Project Delivery Director will work closely with the local campus Managing Director, as the representative of the Client Team, to ensure all Capital Projects are delivered on time, on budget and in accordance with the Client Technical Requirements and expectations. The scale of projects will range from new-build developments, complex re-developments and upgrades of the existing live facilities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • All aspects of project management from inception to construction and close out, including feasibility, business case preparation, commercial modelling, board paper preparation, design, planning, tender, contract negotiation, construction and handover.
  • Ensuring the proper and complete handover in accordance with the Global Switch Handover to Operations (HOTO) procedures of all completed works to the Global Switch operations teams, including, where required, full customer signoffs.
  • Preparation of monthly Group reports based on agreed standard formats that demonstrate and provide accurate information to the EXCO team regarding projects currently in execution.
  • Ensuring compliance of design with all relevant local permitting and government/local authority regulations.
  • Management of BREEAM (or equivalent) accreditation points during design & construction phases.
  • Input into Bid List Recommendations for Consultants, Contractors and Client Direct Procured Plant Manufacturers
  • Preparation of Gateway documentation, Business Case papers (RFAs) and Board papers for each project stage as necessary, including use of the Global Switch Process for the Delivery of Project (PDP) to ensure adequate and timely involvement of internal and external stakeholders to manage timely approval process.
  • Conduct project progress meetings with Contractors, Professional Consultants and internal stakeholders within the PSG/PCG membership.
  • Maintain high standards of cost, quality and programme control throughout the design and construction phases of multiple projects to ensure delivery within expected cost and programme targets.

Key Requirements:

  • 5 Years+ Data Centre construction experience.
  • Successful personnel record of delivery of projects, with a strong focus on M&E systems.
  • Experience of working within live Critical Facilities.
  • Relevant experience working with Contractors and Consultants in Europe
  • Experience of managing multi-million-pound project Budgets
  • In depth knowledge of Data Centre construction methods
  • Fully versed in Project Management tools, techniques and methods.
