Network Project Manager


We are seeking an experienced Technical Network Security Project Manager to lead critical security and infrastructure initiatives within a leading insurance organization. The ideal candidate will bring a strong blend of technical networking expertise, cybersecurity knowledge, and project delivery skills to oversee complex upgrades, migrations, and compliance-related security projects.


This freelance opportunity is ideal for a hands-on technical project manager who can drive end-to-end execution, manage cross-functional teams, and collaborate with IT Security, Infrastructure, and Risk/Compliance departments.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and deliver network security projects such as firewall migrations, VPN redesigns, segmentation, intrusion detection/prevention upgrades, and zero-trust architecture rollouts.
  • Develop detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource plans aligned with security and regulatory frameworks.
  • Act as the primary liaison between technical engineering teams, cybersecurity teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Track and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies, escalating when necessary.
  • Coordinate vendors and third-party providers involved in network security solutions.
  • Ensure that all implementations meet internal security standards (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR, PCI DSS).
  • Provide regular reporting to program leads, CISO office, and risk management stakeholders.
  • Oversee testing, rollout, and post-implementation reviews to ensure effectiveness and security compliance.


Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience managing technical network security projects (firewall, VPN, SD-WAN, segmentation, IDS/IPS, etc.)
  • Solid technical knowledge of networking protocols, firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA), load balancers, VPNs, and cloud networking security (AWS, Azure security groups).
  • Background in cybersecurity best practices and frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, PCI DSS).
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, PRINCE2, or PMP certified).
  • Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional team leadership skills.
  • Able to translate technical risks into business risks and communicate effectively at all levels.
