Head of Financial Performance (M/F) / Payments Industry Sector
Context
Reporting to the Finance department, the Head of Product Financial Performance plays a key role as a strategic business partner to Product teams.
The main mission is to drive financial oversight, analysis, and optimization across a portfolio of products, helping maximize their profitability and support growth.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Partnership:
- Act as the primary finance business partner to all Product Managers within the Merchant Services (MS) unit, delivering comprehensive financial insights and data-driven recommendations that inform product strategies, enhance market positioning, and facilitate effective decision-making.
- Foster strong collaborative relationships with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of financial performance with strategic product goals and objectives.
Product Financial Performance Analysis:
- Conduct detailed profitability analyses for a diverse range of products within the MS unit, evaluating fixed and variable costs as well as their implications on all relevant KPIs, including Free Cash Flow, to guide pricing strategies and inform product development decisions.
- Leverage data from the MS Azure datalake to perform comprehensive and dynamic analysis, developing reporting that highlights critical trends and actionable insights across all products, guiding strategic initiatives and operational adjustments.
- Budget Development and Monitoring:
- Spearhead the construction of product budgets in collaboration with Product Managers, ensuring comprehensive monitoring of financial performance against established targets.
- Identify potential risks and opportunities across the product portfolio, recommending timely corrective actions as necessary to enhance performance outcomes.
Forecasting and Planning:
- Collaborate collectively with all Product Managers and related teams within the MS unit to establish accurate sales forecasts and effectively adjust financial projections in response to evolving market conditions and performance metrics.
- Continuously refine forecasting models and processes that enhance predictive accuracy and ensure alignment with the organization's financial strategy.
- Reporting and Communication:
- Prepare and present consolidated financial reports for senior management that provide insights into overall product performance within MS, including assessments of key performance indicators and strategic recommendations for planning and operational execution.
- Ensure effective communication of financial results and strategic recommendations to all Product Managers and stakeholders to facilitate informed decision-making across the product range.
Process Improvement and Transformation Support:
- Fully support the deep Performance Monitoring Model transformation through the FAST DRIVE program, bringing knowledge and expertise regarding the implementation of new Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) tools alongside the ERP migration to SAP S/4HANA.
- Spearhead initiatives aimed at enhancing management and reporting processes to ensure timely and reliable financial data is accessible for decision-making across all products within MS.
- Develop and implement procedures and methodologies that promote best practices for effective product financial management while fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the finance team.
Leadership and Development:
- Mentor and guide junior financial team members, encouraging knowledge sharing and professional growth to enhance overall team capabilities and performance.
- Champion a culture that encourages curiosity, engagement, and innovation, empowering team members to embrace change and strive for excellence across product financial management.
Profile
- Educational Background: Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- Experience:
- 15+ years of finance experience, including 5-7 years in a business controller/business partnering role.
- Experience in payments, technology, or a similar industry is a plus.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong expertise in enterprise systems (such as SAP), Business Intelligence, and data lakes.
- Experience implementing EPM tools is desirable.
- Soft Skills:
- Ability to influence and collaborate across functions.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, dynamic, and matrixed environment.
- Language:
- Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
