The Role

What will you be doing?

  • You will focus on the European Reinsurance operations of Howden.

  • You will develop business relationships and work alongside Senior Management and other key stakeholders in Group's Reinsurance division to support it in ensuring that it has appropriate and effective understanding, interpretation, application, and implementation of regulatory expectations.

  • You will develop an in depth understanding of the strategic, commercial and operational activities of the European reinsurance business and be able to maintain an up-to-date regulatory risk profile.

  • You must ensure that regulatory matters, concerns and risks of the reinsurance activities in Europe are visible and reported in a timely manner.

  • You will be expected to act in an advisory and consultative role in supporting the reinsurance activities in Europe with the interpretation and application of regulatory expectations.

What skills and experience are we looking for?

  • Must have a background in reinsurance and preferably broking.
  • Experience in compliance, legal or risk functions within insurance or financial services.
  • Extensive experience of operating in a compliance department in Europe
  • Proven track record of building strong and constructive relationships with business leaders/senior management.
  • Experience of being part of change programmes.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of reinsurance, principles, products and services.
  • Good proficiency in English is mandatory and other European languages is preferable.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • University degree or recognised industry accreditation.
  • Professional certification in compliance, risk or insurance.
