Our Dunkerque manufacturing facility is a world-class site for the production of inhaled devices. Here, there are about 450 people, producing dry powder and aerosol drugs in the field of respiratory diseases for patients across the globe. We have an opportunity for a Construction Safety Manager to support our Dunkerque site expansion project. The successful candidate(s) will be engaged on an initial 1 year renewable contract, with the option to extend; and the role would be based on-site at our manufacturing facility in Dunkerque, France.
We are seeking strong construction SHE professionals to provide client assurance as well as work collaboratively with our supply chain and local operations teams to ensure the highest standards of safety. Additionally, you should be able to engage with all levels of the business, including senior leadership teams.
Role Deliverables
- Construction Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HS&W) SME capabilities to support the portfolio.
- assurance and oversight on Client legal duties, the project HS&W assurance programme and construction HS&W best practices during design and execution phases.
- SME input into the development of the project procurement & execution strategy.
- construction HS&W input through the RFP process (design and execution).
- all contractors are correctly pre-qualified and that we only engages competent, safe contractors. Review third party supplier assessments and support escalations/closure of any identified gaps.
- contractor management teams into the HS&W assurance programme and values, ensuring commitment and alignment with all the supply chain.
- contractors have adequate and competent HS&W resources in place. Review CV’s and interview as required. Monitor performance throughout and address any performance or competence issues.
- contractors develop fit for purpose construction phase plans and project HS&W programmes that ensure compliance with all legislative, GERE and local site HS&W requirements. Monitor and audit contractor HS&W programmes and conduct regular site inspections and worker engagements.
- with contractors on HS&W and cultural continuous improvement initiatives.
- opportunities to improve construction HS&W, during the design phase of projects.
- there is clarity on transfers of responsibility with contractors, clearly identifying duty holders for all areas including temporary construction facilities.
- possible, taking account of local legal restrictions, ensure the project implements a clear and agreed procedure for conducting drug and alcohol testing of the workforce. Schedule periodic testing and manage any non-compliances.
- all accidents and incidents are reported and investigated by the contractors with input from all appropriate stakeholders, and that root cause analysis is comprehensive. Provide SME input to investigations, recording all events in PM Vitals and SHE System where required, and ensuring that legal reporting duties to local authorities are complied with, tracking actions to closure.
- project HS & W dashboards are in place and monthly reporting requirements are being met into projects and Global SHE.
- and share Global SHE alerts and learning from incidents, ensuring learnings are embedded across all the GERE portfolio.
