PHP / Laravel / Symfony Developer required to join a high-performing technology team in a permanent position based in Marseille, with 3 days per week required on-site.Reporting to the Lead Developer, you will play a key role in the design, development, modernisation and maintenance of business-critical applications and APIs within a PHP environment. You will work across new and existing solutions, contributing to technical improvements, integrations and the delivery of secure, scalable and reliable software.You will be responsible for:Designing, developing and maintaining applications and APIs using PHP, Laravel and/or Symfony.Analysing requirements, investigating issues and delivering effective technical solutions.Designing and developing REST/GraphQL APIs and system integrations.Designing and optimising relational databases and complex SQL queries using MySQL and/or Oracle.Developing integrations, automation, batch processes and event-driven data flows.Contributing to legacy application modernisation, refactoring and technical debt reduction.Applying software engineering best practices including OOP, MVC, SOLID, PSR and DDD.Writing unit, integration and functional tests and supporting code reviews and documentation.Working with Docker, GitLab CI/CD and cloud environments such as Azure.Implementing secure APIs and authentication using technologies such as OAuth2 and JWT.Supporting deployments, production issues and ongoing application maintenance.Collaborating with DevOps, product and business teams in an Agile environment.Sharing knowledge and mentoring junior developers where required.Identifying opportunities to improve development processes, tooling, automation and code quality.Essential:Strong professional experience in PHP development, ideally 5+ years.Strong experience with Laravel and/or Symfony.Excellent REST API development and integration experience.Strong SQL and relational database experience, ideally MySQL and/or Oracle.Good understanding of OOP, MVC, SOLID, PSR and DDD principles.Experience with Docker and Git/GitLab, including CI/CD.Experience with automated testing using PHPUnit, Pest or equivalent.Experience with API security, including OAuth2 and JWT.Understanding of event-driven architectures and messaging technologies such as Kafka or Redpanda.Experience working with legacy applications, refactoring and technical debt.Familiarity with cloud environments, ideally Azure.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.Fluent English and French, both written and spoken.Open to candidates based in Aubagne, La Ciotat, Aix-en-Provence and Cassis or locations commutable to Gemenos
