The Underwriter role combines technical risk assessment with commercial development responsibilities. The position is accountable for selecting and pricing risks while ensuring alignment with the Group’s risk appetite and profitability objectives. It also drives business growth through proactive origination, client relationship management and cross-selling initiatives. The role requires strong collaboration across underwriting centres and internal functions, particularly in claims and reporting. And we thrive through collaboration.SCOR supports inclusion and the diversity of talents, and all positions are open to people with disabilities.Required experience competencies- Minimum 3 years underwriting experience in insurance/reinsurance market (ideally professional line experience in Direct / Facultative) - Proven underwriting skills for complex Casualty/Financial line program of large corporates (wordings, quotations) - Knowledge of competitors, cedents and brokers - Team player- Proactive, motivated and result oriented - Curiosity, keen to take on new challenges and responsibilities (e.g. new products or market) - Resilience, able to work under pressure with competing priorities - Commercial and tactical vision : ability to successfully negotiate “face to face” with brokers - Combines strong technical skills with good commercial skillsRequired EducationMaster’s degree Insurance, Finance, Risk Management,…Key duties and responsibilities1. Underwriting Risk AssessmentReceive, assess and select Casualty / Financial Lines submissions from various sourcesAnalyze underwriting information and determine risk acceptabilityNegotiate terms, conditions and pricing of contractsContribute to claims handling in collaboration with the claims department2. Portfolio Development ProfitabilityGenerate new business opportunities through proactive marketing aligned with strategy and risk appetiteDevelop profitable growth areas and identify new opportunitiesImplement growth strategies including key account management and cross-selling initiativesContribute to technical expertise in assigned sectors3. Client Market RelationshipsBuild and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers and cedents across marketsPromote SCOR’s offerings and capabilities in relevant marketsEnsure a consistent pipeline of quality business opportunities4. Reporting, Data ToolsMaintain accurate and up-to-date records of risks in underwriting systems (e.g. Forewriter, Omega II, Salesforce)Produce reports and analyses as required for monitoring and decision-making5.
