Scrum Master (Trading Systems)


Job Summary: The Scrum Master plays a critical role in maximizing delivery performance and team effectiveness within the M7 Trading product team, in a business and product-oriented organization.More than a facilitator of Scrum ceremonies - in a context of outsourced engineering delivery, where product ownership and quality remain in-house while an affiliated group entity delivers engineering - this role focuses on optimizing delivery flow, strengthening team autonomy, and enabling predictable outcomes in a mission-critical trading environment.You will act as a system-level enabler, supporting the team and the wider organization to remove constraints, improve collaboration, and continuously enhance delivery performance - while maintaining a clear boundary from product decision-making.Key Focus Areas :Delivery performance & predictability: Drive improvements in flow metrics (lead time, throughput, predictability) and help the team deliver consistently in a high-stakes environmentTeam autonomy & accountability: Strengthen team ownership, maturity, decision-making, and accountability for outcomesSystem-wide optimization: Identify and remove bottlenecks across teams, dependencies, and organizational boundariesOutsourced delivery model: Navigate and optimize collaboration challenges specific to an internal/outsourced organizational setup – within the company’s group.Continuous improvement at scale: Enable data-driven improvement in a multi-product, highly interdependent environmentRole positioning :Serves the team, Product Owner, and organization as a delivery and flow enablerDoes not own product decisions, but ensures the conditions for effective product deliveryOperates at both team level and system levelOperates within a cross-company delivery model – our provider being part of the company’s group - acting as a bridge between product needs, an outsourced development organization and customer acceptanceIncludes delivery coordination, stakeholder alignment, and dependency management across organizational boundariesScope:M7 - Intraday Continuous Market Trading SystemA low-latency, high-performance trading platform, operating as one of the largest market systems, with Core Platform Coverage:24/7 mission-critical operationsContinuous trading algorithms and matching engineEnd-to-end trading workflows (API and UI)Operating Environment:Strict reliability and availability requirementsHigh constraints on latency, throughput, and scalabilityStrong regulatory and market-driven constraintsTeam composition and governanceBusiness and product-oriented governance (Business segment working with products)Core team composed of analysts (Business, Quality etc.) while the engineering team is outsourced to a partner.Key Responsibilities: 1. Optimize Delivery Flow & Team Performance: From ceremony to delivery outcomesDrive improvements in release management:Lead timeThroughputSprint predictabilityIdentify and challenge:BottlenecksInefficienciesOvercommitment patterns2. Strengthen Partnership with Service ProviderDrive improvements on :Delivery reliability from the service provider in partnership.Quality and predictability of external contributionsTransparency on progress and commitmentsManage the specific dynamics of a cross-company delivery model:Work directly with provider’s functional analysts (not developers) and Product owner to align on requirements and priorities.Develop a relationship with the provider’s scrum-masterCoordinate the reception, testing, and acceptance of provider’s deliveries into our environmentSupport the effort to increase release cadence and reduce time to marketIdentify and address collaboration gaps, unclear ownership, inefficient handovers, and misalignments between internal teams and providerPromote:A one-team mindset across internal and external contributorsClear roles, responsibilities, and ways of workingContinuous feedback loops to improve collaboration and performance3. Manage Transversal dependencies (CRITICAL)Proactively identify dependencies across different products and teamsFacilitate alignment between teams, Product Owners, and stakeholdersContribute to cross-team synchronization (Scrum of Scrums, etc.)4. Support Product-Oriented DeliveryCollaborate closely with Product Owners to:Ensure backlog clarityMaintain focus on business valueWhen needed, represent PO / Product Team in meetings related to Projects, initiatives, or issue resolutionDevelop a strong understanding of product challenges:Release managementTrading system and API trading.Low latency architectural requirements5. Remove Organizational ImpedimentsGo beyond team-level blockers:Address cross-team issuesEscalate structural inefficienciesChallenge:Slow decision processesMisaligned priorities6. Lead Cross-Organizational InitiativesManage project-type initiatives involving multiple stakeholders (Market Ops, Sales, Technical Key Account Managers, provider) beyond single-team Scrum deliveryCoordinate M7 impact assessments for new EPEX initiativesSoft skills and qualificationsExpected mindset:Broader thinker (team /product line /organization)Outcome-driven (not ceremony-driven)Proactive (manages risks, anticipates issues, doesn’t just react)Comfortable with complexity (multi-product / dependencies)Curiosity and motivation to engage with product challenges and agility at scaleComfortable operating in a business-oriented, multi-stakeholder environment, balancing delivery coordination, stakeholder alignment, and change enablementSkilled at managing outsourced delivery relationships without direct authority over the externalWe expect our Scrum Masters to act as flow leaders, not just facilitatorsStandard scrum master skills:Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent: Strong knowledge and multiple years of hands-on experience with Scrum Master role and Agile practices.Agile Tools Proficiency: Competence in Agile backlog management tools such as Jira and Confluence, and remote collaboration tools like; Miro and TeamsClear Communication: Effectively articulate complex ideas and technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.Active Listening: Practice active listening to fully understand the needs and concerns of the team and stakeholders.Conflict Resolution: Skilled in mediating conflicts and driving consensus.Education & ExperienceBachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or equivalent Agile certification required. Additional certifications in Agile coaching, SAFe, DevOps, Lean, or Project Management would be considered an asset.Proven track record of improving delivery predictability, optimizing team performance, and facilitating collaboration across multiple teams and stakeholders.Who Are We?
