As we advance from clinical-stage development toward commercialization, we are seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Supply Chain to build and lead a world-class global supply chain organization.


The Director of Supply Chain will be responsible for defining and executing the company's end-to-end supply chain strategy, ensuring the reliable, compliant, and cost-effective delivery of materials, components, products, and services required to support clinical studies, manufacturing scale-up, regulatory milestones, and future commercialization.


As a key member of the Operations Leadership Team, you will partner closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Clinical Affairs, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Finance, Marketing and Executive Leadership to develop a scalable supply chain capable of supporting rapid growth and international expansion.


This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the supply chain function of a high-growth medical device company preparing for commercialization.


Strategic Supply Chain Leadership


  • Develop and execute the long-term supply chain strategy aligned with corporate objectives, product roadmap, manufacturing plans, and commercialization goals.
  • Lead supply chain transformation initiatives that support business growth and operational scalability.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) covering supplier performance, inventory, logistics, quality, cost, and service levels.
  • Provide executive-level reporting and recommendations on supply chain performance, risks, and improvement opportunities.


Supplier Management & Strategic Sourcing

  • Build and manage strategic relationships with critical suppliers, contract manufacturers, and service providers.
  • Lead supplier selection, qualification, onboarding, development, and performance management activities.
  • Develop sourcing strategies that ensure supply continuity, quality, capacity, competitiveness, and long-term scalability.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements, supply contracts, pricing structures, and capacity reservation agreements.
  • Drive supplier development programs focused on quality, responsiveness, cost efficiency, and business continuity.

Procurement, Logistics & International Trade

  • Oversee global procurement activities across direct and indirect spend categories.
  • Develop and optimize international logistics and distribution networks.
  • Manage freight forwarding, warehousing, customs brokers, and third-party logistics providers.
  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, import/export requirements, and customs processes.
  • Identify opportunities for logistics efficiency, cost reduction, and customs duty optimization.

Manufacturing & Inventory Management

  • Lead supply planning activities supporting product development, clinical programs, and manufacturing operations.
  • Define inventory strategies that balance customer service, supply continuity, and working capital efficiency.
  • Support industrialization, technology transfer, process validation, and manufacturing scale-up initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Manufacturing teams to align capacity planning and supply requirements.

Clinical & Commercial Supply Chain

  • Partner with Clinical Affairs to ensure uninterrupted supply of investigational products, procedure kits, and clinical materials.
  • Support enrollment forecasts, site activations, and clinical expansion strategies.
  • Build the distribution infrastructure necessary to support future commercial launches and international market expansion.
  • Ensure compliant, traceable, and efficient delivery of products to clinical sites, healthcare providers, distributors, and commercial partners.

Risk Management & Business Continuity

  • Develop resilient supply chain strategies that minimize operational and commercial risks.
  • Establish business continuity and disaster recovery plans across suppliers, logistics partners, and manufacturing operations.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to supply interruption, geopolitical events, capacity constraints, and supplier performance.
  • Implement alternate sourcing and inventory risk mitigation strategies.

Operational Excellence

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across procurement, planning, inventory, supplier performance, and logistics.
  • Promote data-driven decision-making and deployment of best practices in supply chain management.
  • Support implementation and optimization of ERP, MRP, inventory management, and supplier management systems.
  • Champion Lean, Six Sigma, and structured problem-solving methodologies.

People Leadership

  • Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing Supply Chain organization.
  • Define future organizational capabilities, talent requirements, and succession plans.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop leadership capabilities and prepare the organization for long-term growth and commercialization.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Operations, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • MBA or advanced business qualification is a plus.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in supply chain, procurement, logistics, manufacturing operations, or operations leadership.
  • Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership role managing supply chain teams and strategic supplier relationships.
  • Experience within a regulated industry; medical device experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success supporting product development, clinical studies, manufacturing scale-up, and commercialization.
  • Experience managing international suppliers, contract manufacturers, and global logistics networks.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, forecasting, inventory management, procurement, and supply planning.
  • Knowledge of ISO 13485, supplier quality management, risk management, and regulatory requirements applicable to medical devices.
