Our Client, an exciting start-up Fintech Bank, seeks a Data Protection Officer to educate a company's employees about data compliance (training members of staff who are involved in processing data) and carrying out regular security audits. You would also serve as the main point of contact between the company and the relevant data protection authorities in Europe and abroad. In this role, working closely with the Legal, Compliance, Public Policy and Information Security functions to develop and monitor policies and standards applicable to the business and in compliance with the GDPR, duties will include:

  1. Implementing measures and a privacy governance framework to manage data use in compliance with the GDPR, including developing templates for data collection, assisting with data mapping, and vendor management reviews.
  2. Working with key internal stakeholders in the review of projects and related data to ensure compliance with local data privacy laws, and where necessary, complete and advise on privacy impact assessments.
  3. Serving as the primary point of contact and liaison for the EBC and other EEA Data Protection Authorities on all data protection related matters under the GDPR.
  4. Serving as the primary point of contact for queries in the business.
  5. Reviewing vendor contracts (including Model Clauses) and consents needed to implement projects in partnership with the firm’s Procurement and Information Security functions, and ensuring filing
  6. requirements with local regulators are achieved.
  7. Monitoring changes to local privacy laws and making recommendations to the Data Privacy / Information Governance Committee when appropriate.
  8. Setting standards and reviewing policies and procedures globally that meet the requirements under the GDPR and any localization requirements in countries of operation.
  9. Developing and delivering privacy training to various business functions.
  10. Developing strategies and initiatives to ensure engagement with key internal and external stakeholders.
  11. Coordinating and conducting data privacy audits.
  12. Collaborating with the Information Security function(s) to raise employee awareness of data privacy and security issues, and providing training on the subject matter.

You must be a graduate fluent in English and French with at least two years experience in DP including Audit experience and knowledge of how to handle a cyber attack, as well an excellent knowledge of GDPR. Whilst a law degree is useful, more important are good IT skills especially Information Security so any Computer Science/IT qualifications useful too.

The office is in La Defense and role is office based although there will be some travel, mainly to Cyprus or New York. Also, there is an equity package with shares granted annually with a 3 year vesting period. The Bank operates an unlimited holiday scheme so provided you produce the required output, you can take unlimited holiday (providing dates don’t conflict with duties and are agreed by Management).
